Child Welfare Centre

Labour Department is running Child Welfare Centers have also functioning under the control of Office of the Labour Officer (Welfare Schemes), Puducherry for the children hailing from Labour families in the Union Territory of Puducherry are benefitted. At present there are 8 Child Welfare Centers in the Puducherry region at Gandhinagar, Mudhaliarpet, Ariyankuppam, Villianur, Koodapakkam, Magadagadipet, L.R. Palayam and Sedarapet. In these centres children from the age group from 21/2 to 5 years hailing from labour families are given pre-school education by trained Lady Teacher/ Balasevika. These childrens are provided with hygienic nutritious noon meals as per prescribed menu

Monday – Vegetable Rice, sundal with biscuits
Tuesday – Green Rice, sundal with biscuits
Wednesday – Tamarind rice, egg, with biscuits
Thursday – Sambar rice, sundal eith biscuits
Friday - Dhall rice, sundal with biscuits

The fixed target of each center is 40 children. Per capital expenditure Rs.6,600/- per month is incurred for the pereparation of mid-day meals to these children at a rate of Rs.10/- per child per day. Sanction for an amount of Rs.6,33,600/- has been issued for implementation of the scheme towards providing of mid-day meals. an average of 30 children were benefitted in each center by this scheme
