Origin of the Special Employment Exchange for the Physically Handicapped

Initially a Cell was functioning in General Employment Exchange as per the instruction of Government of India with one post of Assistant Employment Officer.

In compliance to the Scheme implemented by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, the Special Employment Exchange for Physically challenged persons was been set up as the total enrollment of physically handicapped persons was more than 1,000. As a follow up action the Physically Handicapped Cell was bifurcated from the General Employment Exchange, Pondicherry and the Special Employment Exchange, Pondicherry started functioning exclusively for the benefit of the physically challenged persons since 16/07/2001 with the following posts and later renamed as Special Employment Exchange for Differently Abled Persons..
